What have Jews got against pork? Why does my father wait six hours between eating milk and meat, but my Dutch uncle only waits one? Why are some slices of beef labeled “Kosher” and others aren’t? What does the “OU” on my Oreos mean? And why isn’t Chicken Parmesan kosher? All these questions and more will be answered in Rabbi Gelman’s new class on Kashrut! Whether you are a Kosher culinary creator, a foodie newbie, or someone who eats glatt treif, this class will have something to teach you! From all of the various kosher rules and guidelines, we will come to a deeper understanding about Jewish law, and get a sense of just how halacha works.
